This year, over 30+ original entries from high school writers around the world explored the space between longing and discovery, grief and growth, fear and voice. We are proud to present the winning pieces that moved us with their clarity, emotional depth, and originality.

About the Awards
At Confession Literature, we believe that writing is not only about polished expression, but about courage, creativity, and connection. Our award structure for Confess 2025: The Youth Voices Writing Challenge reflects both excellence and inclusivity—recognizing a wide range of voices and storytelling forms.
Grand Prize
Awarded to submissions across all categories that exemplify outstanding literary merit, originality, and emotional resonance. This is the highest honor of the competition.
Excellence Award
Given to 2–3 top entries per category that demonstrate exceptional writing craft, clarity of voice, and strong thematic execution.
Select Award
Awarded to 3–5 strong submissions per category that show unique perspective, creativity, or promise in narrative form, even if less polished.
Honorable Mentions
Up to 6–10 entries per category are recognized for their sincerity, potential, and thoughtful interpretation of the theme “The Distance Between Me and ______.”
